About the Role
We're looking for a passionate Backend Engineer Intern to join our remote team. This isn't a theoretical internship, you'll be building real APIs and database systems that power the entire Tayari ecosystem. It's an unpaid internship, but we evaluate our interns continuously. If you put in the work and deliver great output, you'll be the first in line when we match talent to paid internal roles, client projects, or partner companies.
What You Will Do
- Build, test, and ship solid APIs using Node.js/TypeScript.
- Design and manage PostgreSQL databases (we use Supabase) to keep our data fast and secure.
- Work closely with our frontend and mobile teams to make sure they have the endpoints they need.
- Integrate third-party tools, including AI services and communication APIs across the platform.
- Help us track down bugs, write clean code, and improve how fast our servers respond.
Who You Are (Requirements)
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Practical experience building backend projects (Node.js or Python preferred) with a clear understanding of REST APIs.
- Comfortable working with SQL databases and using Git in a collaborative team.
- An independent worker who can take a task, figure out the roadblocks, and get it done.
- Growth mindset; here to learn, build, and take feedback seriously.
Important Note on Compensation
- This is a non-salaried internship, but as a team member you get free access to Tayari's internal technical and career development courses.
- You will work on actual production systems and be evaluated on your performance, reliability, and code quality.
- Top-performing interns are directly matched to paid roles through internal hiring, client project placements, or external partner opportunities.
What You Gain
- Production-level engineering experience building systems used by real people.
- A strong portfolio of shipped backend APIs and services.
- Mentorship from developers who care about your growth.
- A direct pathway to paid engineering roles based on merit.
